Short answer
No Mac cohort has enough reviewed exact-machine coverage for a universal buy badge. Intel Macs without T1 or T2 are the lowest-complexity hypothesis because Omarchy supports Intel directly without the T1 losses or T2 support stack. T1 MacBook Pros are poor-purpose purchases if sound or Touch Bar matters. T2 Macs have explicit Omarchy handling but retain model-dependent Linux caveats. Apple Silicon is an alternate Asahi-based path, not a directly supported Omarchy installation.
What changes the answer
Intel without T1 or T2
Omarchy documents built-in Intel Mac support and applies Broadcom, SPI-keyboard, and NVMe-suspend fixes on detected models. Avoiding T1/T2 removes an extra support layer, but model-specific GPU, Wi-Fi, suspend, and input testing is still missing.
What this means: The best first cohort to test for a low-cost Omarchy machine, not yet a recommendation. Prefer a returnable exact model and budget for Ethernet, storage, memory, or wireless workarounds until tested.
Omarchy's current Mac guide identifies the first Touch Bar MacBook Pro generation as T1 and lists non-functional Touch Bar and sound as known issues.
What this means: A weak purpose-buy unless the price is very low and both losses are acceptable. Minime currently tracks Mac mini and Mac Studio, so this answer has no comparable T1 laptop price projection.
Omarchy 4.0.1 detects T2 hardware and installs a patched kernel, Apple firmware, audio configuration, input modules, suspend parameters, and fan control. The T2 Linux matrix still marks Bluetooth, suspend, and hybrid graphics as partial and Touch ID as not working.
What this means: Viable for an experimenter, not a low-surprise default. Desktop Mac mini pricing does not transfer the laptop-specific battery, trackpad, camera, Touch Bar, or hybrid-GPU risk away.
Omarchy does not directly support installation on M-series Macs. Asahi's M1 matrix shows broad underlying hardware enablement, but that does not prove the user-driven Omarchy path integrates every feature. We do not have enough model-specific evidence to describe that path as complete.
What this means: Buy only if you want the Mac for its supported ecosystems and are willing to maintain an alternate Omarchy path. Do not buy an M1 solely on the assumption that a mostly-working report transfers to your exact model.
